EYAM

Eyam is referred to as the plague village. In 1665 the tailor had a chest of cloth sent from London. This contained the plague fleas. As the plague spread the village isolated itself.

Follow the plague trail around the village and church. Visit the plague register and the village museum, which tells the plague story.

The village is also home to Eyam Hall which is open to the public.

There are many walks from Eyam including Eyam Moor, a good walking area with views and Bronze Age remains and monuments.

Local industries included lead mining, silk weaving and shoe-making.

Facilities in the village include a village pub which serves food, several tea rooms, post office, village store, gift shop, bakery shop and butchers.
